Progression Pyramid Launched at SENCo Meetings

Specialist teachers working within NYCC's Cognition and Learning team have launched a 'Progression Pyramid' aimed at supporting school staff in developing pupil profiles and, if required, a route to requesting specialist involvement.

The 'Progression Pyramid' provides schools with links to key resources for assessment and intervention and is based on the SEN Code of Practice ' Assess, Plan, Do, Review' approach.

Specialist teacher, Sharon Sissons, who launched the 'Progression Pramid' at all of this term's SENCo Network meetings said  'Feedback from SENCos has been very positive. This is a dynamic tool which has evolved and developed over a period of time in consultation with schools. The aim is for this toolkit to be updated regularly and further enhanced with additional resources from all stakeholders, including parents and pupils.Pupil voice is one of the key features of the approach, as is the focus on building a balanced strengths/ needs pupil profile.'

The 'Progression Pyramid' can be accessed via the CYPS website http://cyps.northyorks.gov.uk/cognition-and-learning
