Free Online Session Offers Support for Parents and Carers Dealing with Children's School Avoidance

In response to growing concerns over children's emotional struggles with attending school, the Wellbeing in Mind Team is set to host an insightful and informative session aimed at parents and carers. Scheduled for April 9th, 2024, at 5:30 PM, this online event aims to shed light on Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and provide practical strategies for supporting children through this challenging experience.

EBSA, a phenomenon characterized by emotional barriers hindering school attendance, will be the focal point of the session. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of EBSA by exploring its early warning signs and underlying causes. Additionally, the session will delve into the concept of functional analysis, empowering participants to identify the unique functions of EBSA for each young person and develop personalized support plans accordingly.

Attendees can expect practical guidance on supporting children dealing with EBSA, including proven strategies for addressing their emotional needs and fostering a supportive environment at home. Furthermore, the session will highlight valuable resources designed to involve children in the planning process for their return to school, empowering them to take an active role in their own well-being.

The session promises to be a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to connect with others facing similar challenges. By sharing experiences and insights, participants can build a supportive community dedicated to helping children overcome EBSA and thrive in their academic journey.
